Dog-Friendly Wine + Beer Tasting in Woodinville, Wash.

Why not take your dog wine tasting in Woodinville, Wash.? No, he didn't drink any. This pink tractor resides at a little shop on the way to Chateau Ste. Michelle.
Ever since moving back to the West Side of the mountains in Washington State, I wanted to return to Woodinville and taste some wine. Darling husband and I spent three years sipping delicious vino in the Walla Walla Valley so I thought it would be fun to check out the tasting scene up north.

We didn't want to leave our golden pup Ralphie behind, so I did some research and we called ahead to make sure he was welcome on this day trip too. Here is where we went!

Barrage Cellars

Packed in an industrial park with about 50-100 other tasting rooms is Barrage Cellars. This was totally different than the tasting rooms on Main Street in Walla Walla. It was a little hard to find the right place because all of the wineries looked the same. Multiple a-board signs were set up along the drive to help direct thirsty patrons.

Inside the Barrage tasting room was sparse but dog friendly. Nothing he could break.

The wine was great. I enjoyed the three red varietals and Dane tolerated the Chardonnay, “I prefer beer,” he’ll tell you. We bought two bottles, Ralphie enjoyed many belly rubs from other patrons and we headed onward.

Triple Horn Brewing

Right across the street from the wine industrial park is a brewery called Triple Horn that also welcomed Ralphie.

Triple Horn - what a cool place for a pet-friendly date!

The atmosphere was very casual and it was warm out so we enjoyed the fresh air coming through the open large roll-up door. We a shared taster and one beer. There was no beer that we tried that I didn't like - though Dane and I both stay away from IPAs.

The crowd was not snooty but very friendly. Ralphie wasn't the only dog there and he loved hanging out with us on the beautiful day. This would be a great spot for a casual date on a sunny day.

Verdict: Unless you are going to Chateau Ste. Michelle, wine tasting in Woodinville is more about tasting than ambiance, and chateau doesn't allow dogs too far onto its grounds. We could have skipped the tasting and just headed to triple horn. The brewery was a very fun experience.

Ralphie loved being included in this day trip. We're lucky to have a pup that loves to travel.
